This campaign funded in 9 Hours and 30 minutes after launch.
It was my fastest Kickstarter Funding yet... ALL THANKS TO YOU.
I was nervous going into this campaign. But I'm glad that my fears were unjustified! YOU ALL WANT MORE SUPER BEST FRIEND. And we're going to complete the three issue mini-series now! Which is incredibly exciting. (Have I mentioned that I've known what the last page of the Super Best Friend saga is FOR YEARS!?!)
And now it's time for some -- STRETCH GOALS!
If we hit $10,000 - ALL BACKERS will receive 121+ pages of bonus digital comics from critically acclaimed independent creators including Karl Kesel (Impossible Jones), Karla Nappi (Duplicant), Ryland Grant (Abberant & Banjax), Ashley Victoria Robinson (Aurora & The Eagle) and David Pepose (Roxy Rewind)
(6 EXTRA COMICS IN TOTAL)
And since we're less than $100 from that goal -- here's STRETCH GOAL #2!
If we hit $14,000 -- ALL PHYSICAL BACKERS will receive an ELECTRIC CAPTAIN TERRIFIC Sticker based on the artwork of SARAH LEUVER! (Digital Backers will recieve a digital version.)
DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE BACKER GOAL!
-- I've said since the beginning of SUPER BEST FRIEND 02 that my goal is to have over 400 BACKERS supporting this book, so here are BACKER BONUSES AS WELL.
- If we reach 300 BACKERS -- I'll release a VIDEO CREATOR COMMENTARY ON SUPER BEST FRIEND ISSUE TWO. I'll go through the book, panel by panel, and give you insight into all the secrets and choices inside.
- If we reach 400 BACKERS -- Did somebody say SUPER BEST FRIEND POSTER for ALL BACKERS?
Help us spread the word to unlock these wonderful goodies!!
QUICK QUESTION --
I've heard some Backers mention they would be interested in POGS (remember those small circular disks?) of SUPER BEST FRIEND. If you'd like that as an ADD-ON, let me know down in the comments. I'm intrigued and interested if the SUPER FRIENDS want it.
ONLINE TOUR DATES --
One of my favorite parts of launching a Kickstarter is making appearances on Podcasts and Shows that I admire. Here are some places you can see my mug or hear my voice in the future! (Dates subject to change based on their release schedule -- and apologies to any show I left off this list accidentally!).
2/3 - WORD BALLOON PODCAST
2/9 - MAJOR SPOILERS PODCAST
2/11 - COMIC SOURCE PODCAST
2/27 - WAYNE'S COMICS PODCAST
RAD KICKSTARTERS YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT --
The Adept is the story of Amy, a young Chinese-American woman with a troubled past, now returning home years later to reset her relationship with the younger sister she left behind. But Amy's years away are shrouded in mystery - even to herself. She dreams of a Shaolin Kung Fu Master, who trains her in the wilds of the Dreamscape, preparing her to face an unnamed evil that he won't speak about.
In this second issue, Amy must deal with the fallout of the kidnapping attack on international popstar, Sasha True. What does it have to do with Amy? And what is the mysterious terrorist organization known as The Wheel? This is a Shaolin-inspired comic book series from writers Tasha Huo (Netflix’s Tomb Raider) and Charlie Stickney (White Ash), artist Yishan Li (Buffy: The Highschool Years) and letterer Deron Bennett (Quixote, Maybe Someday). Charlie is a talented friend of mine, so I would highly reccommend not sleeping on this book! Back the THE ADEPT #2 HERE.
They Call Her...The Dancer is a story that focuses on the beauty and brutality of dance and martial arts, delving into the morally gray psyche of a professional dancer and assassin. At first glance, They Call Her…The Dancer is about analyzing the similarities and differences between dance and martial arts. Dance is something that is seen as beautiful, but many don’t think about the pain that is done to one’s body to truly be a dancer. Martial arts are thought of as violent because it’s a form of “fighting”, but there’s also a dance like quality to this work of art. In their 22 page second installment, Mia must face the fact that she has become the villain of her own story, but will this new revelation be a strong enough reason for her to leave her vigilante life style behind? Kathryn Calamia is no stranger to KICKSTARTER. She constanly creates compelling stories that are engaging and surprising. So, if you're looking for a thriller of a comic -- I recommend BACKING THE DANCER ONE HERE.
That's it! I don't want to fill up your INBOX so only expect a KS update about once a week while the campaign is running. (Still gotta show you the TRADING CARDS, I'm going to slip into your packages!)
Until next time: THANK YOU FOR MAKING SUPER BEST FRIEND FLY HIGH!
